Mission and Philosophy
We believe that the goal of childhood education should not be to fill your child with facts, but rather to cultivate your child’s own natural desire to learn. We offer a specifically planned, stimulating environment which affords children the opportunity to develop foundational habits, attitudes, skills, and ideas necessary for a lifetime of creative thinking and learning.
The Walden School is truly unique in the way where we take pride in enabling our students to discover their true potential. Our students are able to become more confident, more creative and better able to make their own independent choices – qualities which help lead to success in life.
Our classroom environments are a caring, sharing, peaceful and unhurried atmosphere. All of our classrooms are fully equipped with certified and experienced teachers who respect every students’ needs and are dedicated to making a positive difference. Our students get to learn not only how to read and write, but they are also encouraged to think, communicate and express personal ideas all while responding creatively to challenges. We strive to promote an atmosphere where children can help and learn from each other.

The Walden School is accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children and a Member of the Houston Area Association for the Education of
Young Children.
NAEYC promotes high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. Together, we work to achieve a collective vision: that all young children thrive and learn in a society dedicated to ensuring they reach their full potential.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has set 10 standards for early childhood programs that can help families make the right choice when they are looking for a child care center, preschool, or kindergarten. The standards and criteria are also the foundation of the NAEYC Accreditation system for early childhood programs. To earn accreditation, programs must meet all 10 standards.
There are only eight accredited Preschools in the greater city of Houston with two of those being in Sugar Land. Our school is proud to be one of those two in Sugar Land!

Our trained, highly qualified and caring staff takes a hands-on NAEYC approach to learning and provides a quality curriculum led by dedicated teachers to each of our students. All of the staff at the Walden School strives to develop each student’s positive attitude toward learning, combined with high self-esteem, confidence and independence. Barrie Beasley
My name is Barrie Beasley and I am the director at The Walden School. I have my Associates in Early Childhood Education and Development and my Bachelors in Psychology. I have been working in early childhood education for over 15 years. I have experience working with infants, toddlers and teaching Preschool, PreK, and elementary age children. I am very passionate about education, especially in early childhood. I believe school should be a positive and supportive experience for all children.

Community Service Center
SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures (HTT) is a nationally accredited preschool program that provides developmentally focused early childhood education to children, aged 2 – 5 years, who have experienced homelessness. Nutritious meals, education, and intensive art, play, and speech therapy address students’ needs and prepare them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
It is our Christmas tradition for our families at The Walden School to donate gifts for these children. By investing in these at‐risk children, we are striving to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
We will keep our families updated as we hope to continue this tradition every year.

My wife posted a review recently and I figured I’d add some comments. In general, this school has been the best thing we’ve done for our children. They’re learning at a pace far greater than we ever expected. My wife says the school feels like a family and that is really apparent when every teacher (even teachers from other classrooms) says good morning to your child and knows their name
Over the past year, this school has transitioned to new management, and while there have been bumps, they’ve really made great strides to bring the school into a modern facility. They installed a key-coded door, they now have iPads to provide parents with updates throughout the day and pictures with a secure app, and finally, they have an online portal for payments. These updates also mean they’ve encouraged leaving online reviews, and I feel with the care that they show our kids, a review is the least we can do.
Ultimately, we reviewed and interviewed a lot of schools/daycares, and I’m beyond happy with the decision we made. Crazy enough, this school is actually out of the way from where we work and live, but the drive is totally worth it.

As a first time mom, I was so scared to let anyone take care of my little one. After doing much research and visiting many places, it was easy to choose Walden. The teachers and staff are one big family and treat the kids as their own! They are always doing fun crafts with the kids and having little events to keep things interesting! They really put the kids first And I would highly recommend them to anyone!
The teachers are great and really care for the kids! My son loved going to Walden and loved his teachers! If you’re looking for a relaxed and nurturing place to send your child, I would recommend Walden for sure!

It’s the first school we’ve been to where there isn’t constant turnover. We’ve been there for almost a year now and kids love their teachers! The school is very responsive with their communications. My kids are learning, growing and thriving!
From the moment we stepped through their doors, we knew we had found the perfect place for our child. Enrolling my son in the Walden School was the best decision I made. The staff is incredibly loving and treats my son like family. Seeing how happy he is there brings me immense joy.

Everyone treats my children as if they were family. Big smiles, warm welcomes, and praise are given throughout the day and I see how happy my children are to be with their teachers and friends. Would recommend this school 100%. Two children, full time (M-F 8-5 PM), one started in the infant room at 1-year (previously with a at home nanny and noticed slow development with making friends, words, etc.). He has THRIVED. Comes home sharing new words, singing new songs – I know this was the best choice for him to grow. The other child is a newborn, started at 3 months and gets so much love and attention. It warms my heart that the teachers share they have to remember to put her (the baby) down sometimes. There is a great relief knowing that you’re children are being loved and cared for.
Best childcare facility in Sugar Land. It can really hard to find someone that you can trust with your child but they have gone above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and happy. My children absolutely LOVE their teachers. The school is well organized and very clean and the teachers go above and beyond to make sure your child feels safe and well loved.
Wonderful place for kids, everyone is friendly and helpful, ready to guide the children. My niece has been going to the Walden school for over two years and loves it. She is ready to go to school, see her friends and learn new things.
