At Walden Childcare, our mission is to nurture the holistic development of each child in a safe, inclusive, and stimulating environment. We are dedicated to fostering curiosity, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning through engaging, play-based activities and a strong emphasis on early education. Our compassionate team collaborates with families to support each child’s unique journey, laying a strong foundation for their future success while promoting social, emotional, and cognitive growth. Together, we inspire and empower the next generation.
Our Childcare – The NAEYC Experience
Walden Childcare & PreSchool is accredited by National Association for the Education of Young Children and a Member of the Houston Area Association for the Education of
Young Children.
NAEYC promotes high-quality early learning for all children, birth through age 8, by connecting practice, policy, and research. Together, we work to achieve a collective vision: that all young children thrive and learn in a society dedicated to ensuring they reach their full potential.
The National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) has set 10 standards for early childhood programs that can help families make the right choice when they are looking for a child care center, preschool, or kindergarten. The standards and criteria are also the foundation of the NAEYC Accreditation system for early childhood programs. To earn accreditation, programs must meet all 10 standards.
There are only eight accredited Preschools in the greater city of Houston with two of those being in Sugar Land. Our Childcare is proud to be one of those two in Sugar Land!

Barrie Beasley
Director
My name is Barrie Beasley and I am the director at Walden Childcare & PreSchool. I have my Associates in Early Childhood Education and Development and my Bachelors in Psychology. I have been working in early childhood education for over 15 years. I have experience working with infants, toddlers and teaching Preschool, PreK, and elementary age children. I am very passionate about education, especially in early childhood. I believe school should be a positive and supportive experience for all children.
Community Service Center
SEARCH’s House of Tiny Treasures (HTT) is a nationally accredited preschool program that provides developmentally focused early childhood education to children, aged 2 – 5 years, who have experienced homelessness. Nutritious meals, education, and intensive art, play, and speech therapy address students’ needs and prepare them to be successful in kindergarten and beyond.
It is our Christmas tradition for our families at Walden Childcare & PreSchool to donate gifts for these children. By investing in these at‐risk children, we are striving to break the cycle of poverty and homelessness.
We will keep our families updated as we hope to continue this tradition every year.

The Walden childcare Sugarland is a wonderful center. The director Talia has improved the flow and the curriculum. She is very knowledgeable about licensing. My children love it here.
My grandson, which is currently 13 weeks right now he has started to attend this daycare for the last month in the infant room. One of the things that caught my attention was the ratios,miss Talia the Director knows how to keep the ratio at a low number she always has extra consistent teachers in my grandson‘s classroom. I really love watching the teacher get excited to receive my grandbaby every morning. It truly warns my heart, and I really love our first experience.
Been enrolled with our son for two months now starting at 12 weeks old. We have never second guessed our decision to go there. Great place!

My daughter has been attending this daycarefor about a 2 month now. At first my daughter was very timid and nervous starting a new daycare and never being in daycare before. As a first time parent of course the anxiety of her mom and I definitely kicked in, but Ms. Talia the director was very kind and welcoming from the beginning. She made this process very smooth and put our mind at ease. Our daughter has started in the 2 year old class and Ms. Charlesia has been very loving to our daughter who had a rough time in the beginning. The staff here are welcoming. This daycare gives you the feeling of “family”. Thank you all for loving and caring for my daughter.
My 3 year old loves going to Walden. Ever since the new management has taken over our experience of the daycare has been fantastic. I love how the class sizes are small and teachers pay personal attention to each and every child. I love how my son has gotten so fond of the daycare director Ms. Talia who has over 15 years of experience. I would definitely recommend this daycare to anyone who is looking for a NEAYC and Texas Rising Star accreditation daycare!

The teachers are excellent and extremely professional. I have never seen a daycare as clean as this. Teachers are punctual and the management is overly great. I strongly recommend this to others.

My wife posted a review recently and I figured I’d add some comments. In general, this school has been the best thing we’ve done for our children. They’re learning at a pace far greater than we ever expected. My wife says the school feels like a family and that is really apparent when every teacher (even teachers from other classrooms) says good morning to your child and knows their name
Over the past year, this school has transitioned to new management, and while there have been bumps, they’ve really made great strides to bring the school into a modern facility. They installed a key-coded door, they now have iPads to provide parents with updates throughout the day and pictures with a secure app, and finally, they have an online portal for payments. These updates also mean they’ve encouraged leaving online reviews, and I feel with the care that they show our kids, a review is the least we can do.
Ultimately, we reviewed and interviewed a lot of schools/daycares, and I’m beyond happy with the decision we made. Crazy enough, this school is actually out of the way from where we work and live, but the drive is totally worth it.
As a first time mom, I was so scared to let anyone take care of my little one. After doing much research and visiting many places, it was easy to choose Walden. The teachers and staff are one big family and treat the kids as their own! They are always doing fun crafts with the kids and having little events to keep things interesting! They really put the kids first And I would highly recommend them to anyone!
Both of my children have been attending this school for a year. It is family-owned and beautifully run by a loving, caring staff. The kids learn quite a bit and have fun! They are safe and excited to go every day. I thoroughly recommend this school.

We have loved our time at Walden Childcare & PreSchool! Their NAEYC accreditation is what first drew us there but seeing the longevity of many of the families and teachers is what got us to sign. It’s the first school we’ve been to where there isn’t constant turnover. We’ve been there for almost a year now and kids love their teachers! The school is very responsive with their communications. My kids are learning, growing and thriving!
From the moment we stepped through their doors, we knew we had found the perfect place for our child. Enrolling my son in Walden Childcare & PreSchool was the best decision I made. The staff is incredibly loving and treats my son like family. Seeing how happy he is there brings me immense joy.
Everyone treats my children as if they were family. Big smiles, warm welcomes, and praise are given throughout the day and I see how happy my children are to be with their teachers and friends. Would recommend this school 100%. Two children, full time (M-F 8-5 PM), one started in the infant room at 1-year (previously with a at home nanny and noticed slow development with making friends, words, etc.). He has THRIVED. Comes home sharing new words, singing new songs – I know this was the best choice for him to grow. The other child is a newborn, started at 3 months and gets so much love and attention. It warms my heart that the teachers share they have to remember to put her (the baby) down sometimes. There is a great relief knowing that you’re children are being loved and cared for.
Great school. My wife did a lot of research on many schools for our daughter and we decided on walden. My daughter loves her teachers and the activities they provide.
Best childcare facility in Sugar Land. It can really hard to find someone that you can trust with your child but they have gone above and beyond to make sure we are comfortable and happy. My children absolutely LOVE their teachers. The school is well organized and very clean and the teachers go above and beyond to make sure your child feels safe and well loved.
Wonderful place for kids, everyone is friendly and helpful, ready to guide the children. My niece has been going to Walden Childcare & PreSchool for over two years and loves it. She is ready to go to school, see her friends and learn new things.

Walden is a great school with amazing staff and teachers. The NAEYC accreditation provides a great structured curriculum so the students are well prepared for school.
